Have you noticed that the media seems to be full of
self-care messages and advice right now?
But what does ‘Self-Care’ really mean? … Treating yourself to chocolate, having a quiet glass of wine or maybe taking yourself off to read a book in the bath?
To me, none of those are self-care – they’re something that feels good, and I like all of those things, but it’s not really self-care.
The highest form of self-care is the practice of self-awareness.
Self-awareness is about finding out how we feel and why we feel a certain way – it’s a high form of self-care, for without self-awareness we can exhaust ourselves, repeating and perpetuating thoughts, behaviours, patterns and situations that really do not serve ourselves or those we love. In Yogic philosophy, they are called Samskaras.
True self-care is about being in service to our higher self, our potential, and not our ego - the external or public expression of ourselves.
How do you do that?
What are the ways you have found that show you how to be aware of those thoughts, behaviors and patterns … the things that trigger you or cause you to emotionally collapse in certain situations or tear the head off those you love?
I have found that one has to go inward for the answers. Yet, mostly we look outwards.
We wait for someone’s approval, opinion or permission so that we can be who we think we should be or do what we think we should do.
Wouldn't you like to make it quicker and easier than that?
You can!
I have created a 22-day journey, to develop self-awareness using the mindfulness practice journaling with the 22 cards of the major arcana of the Tarot.
Forget what you think you know about Tarot!
Over the past year, I have been studying this way of using Tarot in order to blend my yoga and coaching skills together in a useful and unique way.
You won’t be using Tarot for divination, but you will be using it to find direction and answers to your inner questions.
You will be approaching the Tarot with curiosity, in a way to find better answers for yourself, be more creative with your thoughts and change your perspective, as well as learning about universal archetypes that we all understand and inform our thinking.
– This is for you if you have had previous experience of the Tarot, or if you have had none.
– It’s especially for you if you have been disinterested or wary of Tarot due to the popular view that it is fortune-telling.
– It’s for you if you are bored with your life as it is, or want to broaden your understanding and perspective.
and mostly
– It’s for you if you want to improve the relationship you have with yourself and with others.
Tarot is just a tool that can prompt wonder and introspection, and this 22-day journey is an invitation to get in sync with yourself, examine the changes within and without and more importantly, examine your thoughts, motivations and your beliefs in order to become more aware of your ‘self’.
