Have you noticed that the media seems to be full of
self-care messages and advice right now?
But what does ‘Self-Care’ really mean? … Treating yourself to chocolate, having a quiet glass of wine or maybe taking yourself off to read a book in the bath?
To me, none of those are self care – the’re something that feels good, and I like all of those things, but it’s not really self care.
The highest form of self care is the practice of self awareness.
Self-awareness is about finding out how we feel and why we feel a certain way – it’s a high form of self-care, for without self awareness we can exhaust ourselves, repeating and perpetuating thoughts, behaviours, patterns and situations that really do not serve ourselves or those we love. In Yogic philosophy, they are called Samskaras.
True self-care is about being in service to our higher self, our potential, and not our ego - the external or public expression of ourselves.
How do you do that?
What are the ways you have found that show you how to be aware of those thoughts, behaviors and patterns … the things that trigger you or cause you to emotionally collapse in certain situations or tear the head off those you love?
I have found that one has to go inward for the answers. Yet, mostly we look outwards.
We wait for someone’s approval, opinion or permission so that we can be who we think we should be or do what we think we should do.
Wouldn't you like to make it quicker and easier than that?
You can!
I have created a 21-day time effective journey, a challenge if you will, to develop self-awareness using the mindfulness practice of daily journalling alongside the Tarot.
Forget what you think you know about Tarot!
Over the past year, I have been studying this way of using Tarot in order to blend my yoga and coaching skills together in a useful and unique way.
We will not be using Tarot for divination, but we will be using it to find direction and answers to our inner questions, such as:
“Why do we do jobs we don’t care about, and live lives we don’t like or find satisfying?”
“Why don’t we know what we want or how to get what we want?”
You will be approaching the Tarot with curiosity, in a way to find better answers for yourself, be more creative with your thoughts and change your perspective, as well as learning about universal archetypes that we all understand and inform our thinking.
– This is for you if you have had previous experience of the Tarot, or if you have had none.
– It’s especially for you if you have been disinterested or wary of Tarot due to the popular view that it is fortune-telling.
– It’s for you if you are bored with your life as it is, or want to broaden your understanding and perspective.
and mostly
– It’s for you if you want to improve the relationship you have with yourself and with others.
Tarot is just a tool that can prompt wonder and introspection, and this 21-day journey is an invitation to get in sync with 2021, examining the changes within and without and more importantly, examining our thoughts, motivations and beliefs in order to become more aware of our ‘self’.
We will start on the 27th of February with a 60 – 90 minute Zoom call.
It will be recorded if you can’t join us live.
Then for 21 days starting on the 28th of February, we will journey through the 21 cards of the Major Arcana – the picture cards of the Tarot.
Journalling prompts will be provided and all you will need is a Tarot deck** of your own, and something like a blank A5 notebook, as well as a minimum of 10-15 minutes a day.
The Zoom call will explain everything and get you set up for success.
The cost – £21
** For your Tarot deck, choose a deck to start with that is based on the Rider Smith Waite format – there will be a list of suitable types of decks sent after you sign up.
So, to recap:
A kick off Zoom call – Saturday 27th February at 4pm GMT
followed by:
- A 21 day Tarot journey starting 28th February.
- A Tarot deck** and a blank note book are all you need.
- Time commitment of 15 minutes a day (although you may want to do more!)
The cost – £21
I’m keeping the price affordable so that it’s an easy “YES” and because this is the first time I am offering this.
Next time I offer it, it will look a little different and likely cost more.
If you want a fun way to play and find out more about yourself without getting over-complicated – this could be just the thing for you right now.
I do hope so, I would love you to do this journey with me.
