Such beautiful weather here even though we are approaching the end of September, you know, that time when the days are getting shorter and there is a little chill in the air.
It's so easy to start feeling a little sad that the summer is going and that the dark time of the year is coming.
But… don't feel glum…it just requires a little shift of perspective to enjoy the change in seasons and 'go with the flow' and as you know (unless you are new here!), I am all about going with the flow as the most peaceful and productive way to move through life.
Today – the 23rd September – is United Nations Peace Day. It always falls on the Autumn equinox (Spring and Autumn equinox are the times in the year when the dark and light are equal), a time where we are gathering in the harvest and enjoying an abundance of choice and deliciousness. For some it is the start of new things, academically, after the summer holidays and can almost feel like a fresh start like the January new year.
It is a good time to go inside, physically and metaphorically, by deepening or initiating a meditation practice.
There are many festivals and sacred junctures at this point of the year, Druid fire festivals, Navaratri in the Hindu and Yoga world, Jewish High holidays, Christian Harvest festivals, etc and the beginning of the Eleusian Mysteries in Ancient Greece, the time when Persephone goes into the underworld .
So, getting to my point here, do you have a Persephone line in your hands?
A Persephone line is a very long head line that dips down into the moon area of your hand.
The Head line is the 2nd of three major lines starting with the Heart line just underneath your fingers, the Head line laying across the middle of your hand, and the Life line that encircles the base of your thumb.
The 'moon' is the area at the bottom of the hand beneath the little finger, pinky finger, near the wrist.
Some Headline can be long and reach out across the hand and off the edge of the fleshy part of the hand about half way between the top and bottom. These are not the same as a Persephone, which needs to curve down and dip right into the moon area of the hand.
If you are the owner of this type of Head line you will recognise the feelings that are associated with this line.
You may be a deeply spiritual and creative being as the upside and a consequence of having activity in the moon area of your hand, but prone to suffer from dark feelings of depression, finding it difficult once you have dipped down to this area to bring yourself back out of it unscathed.
