The following article was sent to me as an email from my Mother…Thanks Ma!… and as it was approved by a nurse I thought the information was well worth reading.

Who she is I don't know, but the information is so good that I wanted to share it.

At the end you will see a highlighted section. Please note what it says; female heart attack symptoms are caused by stress and inflammation . I highlighted this part because I know a bit about that and what to do about it. Look out for further posts on inflammation and stress in the body so that you wont be a victim of female heart attack.

I am an ER nurse and this is the best description of this event that I have ever heard. Please read, pay attention, and send it on!

Women and heart attacks (Myocardial infarction). Did you know that women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have when experiencing heart attack.. you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor that we see in the movies. Here is the story of one woman's experience with a heart attack.

'I had a heart attack at about 10:30 PM with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, 'A-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up.

A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when you've been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like you've swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldn't have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensation–the only trouble was that I hadn't taken a bite of anything since about 5:00 p.m.

After it seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasms), gaining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR).

This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws. 'AHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening — we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, haven't we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, Dear God, I think I'm having a heart attack!

I lowered the foot rest dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead. I thought to myself, If this is a heart attack, I shouldn't be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else… but, on the other hand, if I don't, nobody will know that I need help, and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment.

I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into the next room and dialed the Paramedics… I told her I thought I was having a heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum and radiating into my jaws. I didn't feel hysterical or afraid, just stating the facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately, asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to un-bolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in.

I unlocked the door and then laid down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I don't remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the radiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance. He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like 'Have you taken any medications?') but I couldn't make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.

I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was already to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival and the procedure) and installing the stints.

Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail? Because I want all of you who are so important in my life to know what I learned first hand.

1. Be aware that something very different is happening in your body, not the usual men's symptoms but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act). It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didn't know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping they'll feel better in the morning when they wake up… which doesn't happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that you've not felt before. It is better to have a 'false alarm' visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be!

2. Note that I said 'Call the Paramedics.' And if you can take an aspirin. Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER – you are a hazard to others on the road.

Do NOT have your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at what's happening with you instead of the road.

Do NOT call your doctor — he doesn't know where you live and if it's at night you won't reach him anyway, and if it's daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics. He doesn't carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved! The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr will be notified later.

3. Don't assume it couldn't be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count. Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless it's unbelievably high and/or accompanied by high blood pressure). MIs are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body, which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Dip your fingers into the oil and begin by rubbing it onto the bridge of your nose. Using both hands in a circular motion, massage the oil outward across your face, from cheekbones to ears and upward from temples to hairline. Then rub the oil in linear movements from the upper lip to the cheekbones and the ears. Using your index finger, put oil on the outer and inner rims of your nostrils. With three fingers of each hand, rub from the nostrils to the ears in a linear motion, taking time to massage the entire ear. Next, massage your brow and pat your closed eyelids. Finish by gently prodding the skin under your jawbone to the base of your neck. When you're through, you'll feel centered, refreshed, and ready to face the world.

Stress!

Stressed out.

Stressing.

Too much stress

Stressful… we are using these words every day.

We are feeling these words as well and its not doing us any good!

Check in, drop down and tune in to your body. Get still enough to connect to what is going on there.

Mostly we ignore our body, but it gives us information that we can't get in any other way. How else would we feel the sun on our skin or the joy of a hot bath or the thrill of a fabulous meal, without our body?

Our body is a great teacher……wise and patient beyond our expectation and more forgiving than most of us deserve given the way we abuse it and take it for granted. It acts like a huge antennae collecting and storing data. However, we can only retrieve that data when we find ways to tune in to it and listen.

Sooner or later the signs of neglect catch us up and our body fails us. Depression, high blood pressure, digestive problems, eczema, headaches, overeating, alcohol and drug use are all signs of our body telling us that we are out of balance.

Sadly we are only motivated to take action when something compels us to because we have created an unavoidable situation that can't be ignored any more.

We need to remember the rules of the road on this journey called life, and one of the first rules, maybe the only rule, is BALANCE.

Most of the problems that arise for us are problems of the mind. It's the way we think or rather the way we don't think that causes us suffering and grief.

There's some stinkin thinking going on!

Being present is one of the ways to stop suffering. If we can stay 'present' there is no suffering, there is no stress.

Suffering happens when we tussle with the past or worry about the future. Our mind, not our body takes us to those places.

How to be present – What tools or techniques do you need to understand "Being present"?

The number one tool is the BREATH. It is a simple way to be present and an easy way to be present.

Breathing is so fundamental to us that it seems fanciful to think that this technique can do so much, but it is a timeless Vedic tool to balance the mind and to bring union to our body and spirit. Its using yoga for stress relief.

The very moment of the next inhale and exhale, in the very next breath, there is no suffering. Here and now you are okay. Capture that moment of no future/no past to enjoy stillness and peace, in the space between the breath.

For some of us it is necessary to create a verbal affirmation of some kind or a movement or activity to keep us rooted in that place of stillness because our mind continually wants to drag us away from it.

As our heart pounds and we feel tired, overwhelmed or nauseous with the fear or pain we are experiencing, we need to speak soft words of encouragement or give ourselves gentle care. Soft but powerful words or actions that have a resonance that can calm the heart beat and slow the breath. For example – " If I don't move from this place, in this moment, all is well." " I am fine, I am safe. Here is okay." " My fears are in my mind. It has not happened, it may not happen." "I am giving this problem power and I can be more powerful than the fear." "The fear will not consume me".

It is our perceived version of a reality that has not happened yet that keeps us fearful and in a stressed state. It is not true.

The simple act of paying attention to your breath is enough. Nothing fancy, nothing unfamiliar to learn. Just focus on breathing in and breathing out and making the in and the out even. Then start to slow the breath. Notice the gap between the breath, the pause. The peace is in the pause.

The last words here are a quote from Abraham Hicks - Abraham-Hicks™

There is nothing about your physical awareness that connects you more to the Non-Physical aspect of your Being than that of your breathing.

Many assume that the process of breathing is only about your physical nature, but that is not the case. The process of breathing is much more than an essential function of your physical body. Indeed, it is the flowing of Spirit to you, and through you. That is the reason that when the focusing of Spirit through your physical body ceases, your breathing ceases, also.

Our meditation experience will induce a convergence of beneficial aspects for you, for as you relax into the natural rhythm of perfect breathing while hearing these spoken words, the Vibration of your physical being will gently surrender to the Vibrational frequency of your Source, and you will become one with your Source, inside the Vortex.
Through the hearing of our words in your relaxed state of allowing, you will allow the gentle tuning of your Vibrational frequency to match the frequency of your Source.
This will not be an exercise of effort or trying, but instead an exercise of releasing and allowing—gently allowing yourself to be who-you-really-are.

I have just been reading an interesting email from someone posing the question- "Are you living at cause — or are you living at effect?" (Tal Rachleff)

"Here's what this means: when you are living at cause, you are actively creating the life and circumstances you desire around you. You take 100% responsibility for what shows up in your life and no longer project blame or responsibility onto others for what is happening in your consciousness. (And what is happening in the field of your consciousness — whether you are conscious of it or not — is pretty much everything that you can possibly ever experience — right?)

When you are living at effect, you are waiting for other people or external circumstances to shift to allow you to have what you want. You offload responsibility for being the active agent in creating the life of your dreams to others. You often find yourself resenting the success or boldness of others even as you wish you had done what they have or something similar. Sound familiar?

Simply acknowledging where you're living at cause — and where you are living at effect — can create a huge shift in your life."

I was doing this without realising it BEFORE I had my hands read, living in effect that is.

I felt a victim to my circumstances and unable to change my lot to any significant degree. Definitely limiting beliefs although I had no concept of this or what it was shaping -or not shaping – in my life.

It was an awful lot of waiting I was doing, not shaping.

I had been waiting for years! Now I could kick myself for being so lame but…

I needed the confidence and reassurance, as well as the awareness of such things that an experience like Hand Analysis can provide. As I have said and will keep saying, it is a transformative experience.

Once you have awareness of something it cannot be erased.

Just like a child learning a swear word – you just cant get them to unlearn it.

ts in there, you've had it!

Do you have all the information you need to be living in cause and not in effect?

If you are to be 100% responsible for what you bring into your life, you need to have all the information you can about you and that includes the shadow side- or how I might phrase it as a Hand Analyst- your life lesson information.

For example, if you know your Life Lesson is "The loser", as hard as that sounds, and it is, you need that information.

You don't get to live your Life Purpose without some work.

You need to hear the truth and have the mirror held up in front of you so you can do something about it, your Life Lesson that is.

A known unknown rather than an unknown unknown as Donald Rumsfeld might say! ( I never understood why that caused such a stink because it made perfect sense to me?!)

And believe me, I have that life lesson.

It feels like an icy grip around your heart to hear that phrase, but now that I know it, I can raise my awareness and tackle it, do something about it and avert disaster!

Avoid the bus if you know its going to hit you!!

The more I know about what makes me tick, the more I can be responsible for what I let into my life and the results I create in my life.

It cuts out a lot of guesswork and time wasting to have an owners manual to refer to.

When you have been wasting time like I had been, time wasted WAITING, it feels like time speeds up and there is not so much left to waste. It is the most valuable natural resource that we all have.

There is an urgency for all of us to stop wasting time. Not just in the world wide sense but personally as well.

If more of us were to be living our lives on purpose, we would be happier and that ripple would affect everyone we come in contact with, most especially those nearest and dearest to us. Those that we shape by our actions and behaviour, those that we love the most but some times treat the worst.

We, the big 'we' often talk about the wasting of our resources, the squandering of the earths riches, whilst continually failing to recognise that WE are squandering ourselves. We are wasting our precious time and our unique potential and brilliance by not being awake to ourselves.

We are failing to serve ourselves and those around us whilst we have an abundance of something, our talents and gifts, so valuable to share with others.

I want as many people as possible to live with the full knowledge of the abundance they have to offer the world. I am sure you can relate to this if you consider for a few moments all the people in your life that you recognise have not lived the bigger life, the bigger more brilliant version of themselves that they could have, whether they realised it or not. All the bitter and cantankerous elderly people that you know that are that way because of the way life panned out for them not realising that there was a different way or not knowing how to access it due to the social mores of the age.

It is heartbreaking to me to see that natural abundance left to shrivel and die on the vine.

How ever you do it, whether it is with me, your god, your church, your psychiatrist, your yoga practice – do what ever it takes to find your brilliance, talents and natural abundance so that you can share it with the world and live a life on purpose and with purpose.

Remember – You are never to old to be the person you could have been.

There are many festivals and sacred junctures at this point of the year, Druid fire festivals, Navaratri in the Hindu and Yoga world, Jewish High holidays, Christian Harvest festivals, etc and the beginning of the Eleusian Mysteries in Ancient Greece, the time when Persephone goes into the underworld .

So, getting to my point here, do you have a Persephone line in your hands?

The Head line is the 2nd of three major lines starting with the Heart line just underneath your fingers, the Head line laying across the middle of your hand, and the Life line that encircles the base of your thumb.

Some Headline can be long and reach out across the hand and off the edge of the fleshy part of the hand about half way between the top and bottom. These are not the same as a Persephone, which needs to curve down and dip right into the moon area of the hand.

If you are the owner of this type of Head line you will recognise the feelings that are associated with this line.

You may be a deeply spiritual and creative being as the upside and a consequence of having activity in the moon area of your hand, but prone to suffer from dark feelings of depression, finding it difficult once you have dipped down to this area to bring yourself back out of it unscathed.

When you think of the term Palm Reading what image comes to mind?

A dim room with a mysterious seated figure who beckons you in with the invitation to "cross my palm with silver" ?

Maybe so if you are interested in a fortune telling session, but not so if you come across a Hand Analyst.

Hand Analysis, or Scientific Hand Analysis as it is sometimes called is the 21st Century update of this ancient art.

Often dismissed by serious folk in our modern world, it is in fact the most fascinating journey through a process of self awareness and clarity that you can experience. I know that because I had it done and was so impressed with how it made me feel and what it revealed to me about myself, that I decided to embark on formal training to become a Certified Hand Analyst .

Palmistry, palm reading or whatever term you may associate with it is a very ancient art form that dates back many thousands of years to India, China and ancient Greece. Modern Hand Reading is a

There are many facets to analysing a hand that include the shape, texture, lines and fingerprints.

Modern science has shown that the lines in your hand have been made by energy imprints from the major neural pathways of your brain to your hand and by studying many examples has been shown to reveal your unique style of feeling, thinking, behaving and communicating. The lines are like a diary of experiences that you have had and these lines can change. The lines also show your special gifts, your physical stamina levels and even a likely career path!

The zones of your fingers show your strengths and weaknesses and the shape can denote your basic personality style and even the state of your chakras.

In India the art of Hand Reading, or Hast Jyotish as it is called, is still revered as it was generations ago, along with other studies under the Vedic system called Jyotish, such as Jyotish Astrology, Ayurveda and Yoga, and it is not uncommon for a Hand Reader to be consulted when an important family decision is to be made such as choice of career, study or marriage partner!

An in depth reading can bring a wonderful feeling of clarity and confirmation to your life and help you focus and decide on what you know to be the best path for the way you uniquely are, a bit like consulting your owners manual when an issue crops up.

Typically they are busy people, challenged and time pressed and are concerned about their levels of health and lack of vitality, or just feeling more grrrrr that great. (Sometimes we don't know how bad we feel until we feel better!) Often they are in overwhelm with their mental and physical daily demands – STRESSED OUT! I like people to feel at ease in my company and through working with me to feel at ease in their bodies. I passionately believe in the wisdom of our bodies, and that modern living has disembodied us; creating a mind-body separation. We just don't pick up on all the information our body is trying to tell us. Working with and through the body with some of the many facets of Yoga, it is possible to develop an awareness that enables us to recognise, experience and direct our intrinsic energy and to shift it in a positive way to achieve the change we are yearning for. Our physical body becomes the vehicle through which we can discover ourself and is the gateway to our mind and then our heart – our feelings which subconsciously dominate our lives. Body alignment and energetic renewal are the door to the executive lift. It goes to the top floor, where the director can make decisions with calm control and peaceful power. I believe one of our goals in life, whether we realise it or not, is to create harmony in all aspects of our being, physically, mentally and spiritually. That requires mindfulness, determination and inspired action. Thats's "Why Yoga"!

Do you have days when it all feel… eeergh? You feel overly busy and stressed, distracted, depleted and fearful? Today felt like that for me. Apparently, according to a Vedic astrologer I follow, its to do with the planets… well there's a relief, but more than that, there is just a lot of crap stuff going on right now. I made it a habit some time ago to do without newspapers and limit the amount of time I spent getting 'news' of any sort (including gossip, but that's another post), but it's not always easy to avoid what is happening in the world, nor should we… but man… give us a break!!! Today I felt out of sorts all day… really flat until I thought… "ENOUGH"… Get the kettle on, make some tea, turn the radio up and DANCE! I know 4 salsa steps; I learnt them recently and I can do them slow, fast and very fast. I recommend them to all my family. And show them to anyone who feels the need… so, 3 minutes of very fast salsa, and PRESTO… smiling again, energy restored, dogs bemused. Seriously though, it is possible to change anything around, to shake off the energy vampires and increase your energy levels, dumping uncertainty, fear and all challenging times. Move it out of your head, into your body, and drain it away through your feet. You may feel resistant to salsa. Well its not the only technique. Yoga works really well, or go for a walk, with or without a dog. Get a massage, take a bath… the key is to get into your body and out of your mind. We cant stop the world, but we can stop our reactions to things that go on in the world and find new and joyful stress busting techniques.
